“Lust…” is a new exhibit that will span multiple galleries and showcase works that depict many interpretations of love and lust. The opening reception is Sunday, February 14th, 2010 from 1pm-5pm. This will be an INCREDIBLE VALENTINE’S DAY EVENT for couples, friends, and patrons!

HYATTSVILLE, MD (01-29-10) – artdc Gallery, Design Studio Art Gallery, and Cheryl Edwards Studio will host this exhibit. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 1-5pm. The exhibit will run from February 8th – March 3rd 2010.

In collaboration with multiple Arts District galleries, we will work to create a movement in celebration of that wonderful time full of love. You know the day--February 14th! V-day. We will be developing a semi-all inclusive show that will be curated in one space, and then split between galleries. This movement goes beyond space limitations and activates the neighborhood through multiple gallery collaborations.

Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. There's an energy which drives us to fall in love. Philosophers, scientists, and artists study it. Lust is an intense craving for one’s lover and has been a tremendous force in the creation of art and spirit. Lust is joyful and painful at the same time. Dante

compared it to the sweeping force of a whirlwind with no hope of escape to cleanse your soul and purge your minds from desire. Lust controls many of us with muscle truck unstoppable force! We are exploring lustful creativity with a tremendous, ground-breaking show which crosses individual gallery barriers. As a group, each gallery director will assist in curating the show. We will then divide the work between our spaces. Lust will create a movement for the month of February!

The art will range from publicly accessible art PG-13 to much spicier concepts! This is not an erotic art show. We need to explore this unstoppable whirlwind of fear, need, anxiety, love, and desire. Lust and love move deeper than sex, it's power.

This exhibit was conceived because of the need to communicate about immigration in a different way. Art has transformative and healing powers which are truly needed at this time. Art can transcend barriers, borders and differences. The Immigrants Art Exhibit provides an opportunity for immigrant artists to respond artistically to this time in history in which immigrants are being globally and locally persecuted and deprived of their rights.

The exhibit has been shown at the Rios II Gallery and LeRoy Neiman Art Center in Manhattan, the Suffolk County Community College, Selden, Long Island, the American Friends Service Committee in Newark, NJ and the South Ocean Art Gallery in Freeport, Long Island. The artists come from a variety of continents and countries including Ivory Coast, Taiwan to Guatemala and Chile. Since the first opening on July 10, 2009 requests to exhibit have been received from 3 additional galleries.

J. S Bach - Six Suites for Cello Solo", a complete recording by Ovidiu Marinescu

This is for those who would like to support an exciting project " J. S Bach - Six Suites for Cello Solo", a complete recording by Ovidiu Marinescu
and get wonderful rewards for it! My original oil painting "Lacus Somniorum" is one of them.

The Bach cello suites are perhaps the most challenging and rewarding set of works for cello ever written. Famous cellist Pablo Casals spent 12 years before he first played the suites in public, and every day for the rest of his life he started each day by playing one of the suites: Monday - Suite no. 1, Tuesday - no. 2, and so forth; on Sunday he rested. After years of research and performance, finally we will have a much anticipated recording of the Bach Cello Suites by Ovidiu Marinescu. Please watch the video telling his story and including clips from one of the recording sessions.

Title: "Lacus Somniorum" (in English "Lake of Dreams")
Size(HxW): 18x24 in (45x61 cm)
Style: Fantasy, Imagination
Technique: Oil on canvas
Year: 2009
Desc.:
This paintings is an imagination of the Lunar lacus (singular lacus, Latin for for "lake") from a close distance. Lacus Somniorum is a plain located in the northeastern part of the Moon's near side. It is located at selenographic coordinates 38.0° N, 29.2° E, and has a diameter of 384 kilometers. It is the largest of the lunar features designated Lacus. The name is Latin for Lake of Dreams, a title given to this feature by Riccioli, an Italian astronomer who was the first person to measure the rate of acceleration of a freely falling body.

Lacus Somniorum is an irregular feature with complex, somewhat ill-defined borders. The surface has the same low albedo as the larger lunar mare found on the Moon, and its surface was formed by flows of basaltic lava.
